A pop-up exhibition in Reboot Fashion that demonstrates that the digital is not only a complement to physical craft but an emerging design language.
The works on display come from the Swedish School of Textiles' research and fashion and textile education.
Fashion and textile design have always involved physical artefacts, and digital software has traditionally served as a support tool within these design practices. This exhibition shows how the digital can be a creative medium in its own right, thereby opening up perspectives on what this might mean, not only in terms of expression, but also professionally and as part of the development of the fashion and textile design field.
Soft + Ware: Rethinking Fashion and Textiles presents fashion and textile design in a digital shift. Through 3D modelling, parametric design, digital fabrication, AI, and 3D creation, the exhibition explores how digital methods are transforming and expanding what fashion and textile design can be: as a design methodology in education, as expression, as an applied practice where fashion and digital games converge, and as a field of research.
The exhibition will be on display in Reboot Fashion from April 26 to August 23.
